Graduate studies in Food Science and Technology at the Federal University of Viçosa began in August 1974 (Master's) and April 1994 (Doctorate), reaching their 50th anniversary in 2024. As of December 31, 2024, UFV had graduated more than 60,000 professionals, including 12,000 master's and 4,000 doctoral graduates, of whom 740 master's and 386 doctoral graduates were trained through the PPGCTA.

About the Program

The PPGCTA is accredited by the competent bodies of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) at both the Master's and Doctoral levels. Both programs are recommended for candidates applying to the Institutional Program for the Training of Faculty and Technical Staff (PICDT), while the Doctoral program is also recommended by the Technical Advisory Group of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (GTC-CAPES-MEC).
