Technology Transfer

  1. 2023: Patent (BR 10 2021 002166 7 – Kits for detection of Pseudomonas and use). The patent developed from the thesis of former student Jéssica Fernandes Carvalhais (DSc), under the coordination of permanent faculty member Monique Eller, began its process for technology licensing by the company Recombine Biotecnologia Ltda., a startup located at tecnoPARQ. The partnership with Recombine started in 2022 and was formalized in 2023 (DOU No 167, Thursday, August 31, 2023), aiming to develop systems for detecting contaminants in food industries using the protected technology. Since then, the technology has been evaluated in various dairy plants and slaughterhouses, including Laticínios Funarbe, Laticínios Scala, and Frigorífico CiaCarne. Additionally, based on the technology, the company secured second place in the Inovalácteos Acceleration Program in 2022, and first place in the Triple Helix Call by FAPEMIG.
  2. 2024: The patents BR 10 2023 003533 7 (PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF COFFEE VINEGAR USING THE BYPRODUCT FERMENTATION WATER AND KOMBUCHA SCOBY, AND THE DERIVED PRODUCT (COFFEE VINEGAR)) and BR 10 2023 003534 5 (PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF HONEY VINEGAR USING KOMBUCHA SCOBY, AND THE DERIVED PRODUCT (HONEY VINEGAR)) were the technological foundation for the creation in 2024 of the Spin-Off Vina Biotechnology, pre-incubated at the Incubadora de Empresas de Base Tecnológica do CenTev. The company is formed by Professor Monique Eller, permanent faculty member of PPGCTA, as well as student Marcela Aparecida da Silva Alexandre and Master’s graduate, now a doctoral student in PPGCTA, Arthur Vinícius de Abreu Oliveira. The licensing process for these technologies is ongoing for the registration, production, and commercialization of these products.
  3. 2024: The technology titled “Coatings from biodegradable biopolymers associated with nanostructures for post-harvest fruit preservation – Patent: BR 10 2018 017177 1 B1,” developed by UFV in partnership with UFSJ, under the coordination of permanent faculty member of PPGCTA, Professor Jane Sélia Coimbra, was licensed through an exclusive technology transfer contract in 2024 for the creation of the Spin-Off Nano Food. The technology consists of a coating capable of extending the shelf life of fresh foods by three to five times, without altering the physical and organoleptic characteristics of the foods.
