Internationalization

Internationalization

The encouragement of international cooperation by the PPGCTA has contributed to the expansion and consolidation of partnerships and the formation of international research networks, with the goal of improving the quality of scientific output and the training of human resources. The PPGCTA, with institutional support (DRI – Office of International Affairs) and funding agencies (CAPES and CNPq), has promoted the mobility of faculty and students to foreign institutions. A number of PPGCTA/UFV professors completed part of their academic training abroad and continue to maintain ties with their host institutions.

During the four-year period, the PPGCTA undertook several efforts to strengthen its international collaborations. Highlights include the offering of courses in English and the increase in the number of international student enrollments.

The internationalization actions are detailed in the sub-items below, among which the following stand out:

  • The PPGCTA participates in the CAPES-PrInt Institutional Internationalization Project. During the four-year period, three faculty members received postdoctoral training abroad.
  • Signing of international cotutelle agreements for dual degrees with Université de Lorraine – ENSAIA, in France, and Università di Catania, in Italy.
  • Acquisition of funding through projects approved in partnership with international institutions.
  • Since 2020, the university has established a cooperation agreement with the pan-African organization FARA (Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa) to host Nigerian students. Between 2021 and 2024, five students were received through this program.
  • In addition, during the four-year period, doctoral sandwich programs were carried out by students; international funding was obtained through partnerships; and there were visits by foreign researchers as well as visits to international research groups.

PPGCTA/UFV stands out for its international collaborations, which enhance the visibility and recognition of the program’s excellence. Noteworthy are the partnerships with international researchers, cooperation agreements, international mobility programs, and the publication of joint articles with foreign institutions.
